Herbal Revolution – Tea and Herb Workshop
July 6 @ 2:30 pm - 4:00 pm$55
Join herbalist, Jennifer Naqvi, for an in depth exploration of how to blend teas. Jennifer is the owner of Oh So Good Organics, an organic body care company and grows many of her own herbs.
This Workshop will be held out-doors, offering a chance to see many of the herbs to be discussed growing on the farm.
Discussion topics will include:
1. History of herbal teas.
2. Why were they made.
3. Uses and effectiveness.
4. Connection to the land through growing, harvesting, consuming herbs/teas.
The goal of this workshop is to develop a comfort level for choosing and blending herbs. We all have an innate intuitive sense of what we need for our own care and with a little education we can tap into it. We learn through experience and consumption, but what is new to us may not be new to our bodies! We have been using many of the same herbs for thousands of years; the data stored within the plants is recognized by our bodies when we consume these natural compounds.
Jennifer will talk about the symbiotic relationship that develops with the land and with plants when we begin to cultivate herbs for our own use. The plants we grow mirror us: If you’re sick, and you’ve tended to a plant in your home, it will change its chemical make-up in order to support your immune system when you ingest it. It seems they recognize us as another sentient being. Trees and plants will send a sugar substance to sick trees through their root systems keeping them alive. We must emit some kind of chemical signature/pheromone when we are sick that the plant picks up on.
Understanding the parameters needed for different types of herbs to grow leads to a compassionate connection, love and understanding for the land. This greater connection will change our buying and behavioral decisions to better support the Earth.
