The Apiary

Great News!
The farm has reopened it's apiary with the help
of a dedicated team of Beekeepers.
We jumped in to try and make a difference after learning about last year’s estimated hive losses of over 60% Nationally. We expected some losses and slow growth, what we did not anticipate was all 25 hives growing very
fast! We are now expecting a robust and very early honey harvest. This sped-up projection has us reaching out for community support, we are offering two tears of Hive Sponsorship to join in the Apiary experience!

How to Stay Involved
A great way to stay involved and support the bees is to buy honey!
Please follow our progress as we share images and video on Instagram and YouTube!

Native Flowers
We will start out collecting wildflower honey. The term wildflower is such a "catch all" where honey is concerned. The same way "local" means something different where ever you are!
In Maryland Wildflower actually refers to a vast array of Native trees. This is exactly what makes local honey such a valuable antidote in fighting allergies, it is made of the exact same pollen that we react to, just transformed into a superfood and a remedy!
We are lucky the apiary is surrounded on three sides by 286 acres sustainably managed farmland, on it's fourth side it meets Sugarloaf Mt. Park which represents another 3,400 acres of forest. further buffering the bees from pesticides and industrial areas.
